The city of San Carlos de Bariloche has become of the most important cities and tourist areas in Argentina, both in summer and winter.It is at two hours by plane from Buenos Aires city and it is located in the center of the Argentine Lakes District and next to the Andean Mountain Range, at an altitude of approximately 2,690 feet (819 meters). It sits on the southern shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi, in the National Park of the same name.

In winter, it is the destination of all those people loving to skiing in the most important winter center in Latin America. In summer it has become a fashion place to practice water sports in a unique environment.Throughout the year people shop in the unique boutiques filled with fine leather goods, hand knitted articles, famous European chocolate confectionaries, or enjoying the many restaurants and clubs. The city offers concerts and performances of orchestras and choirs in the parks. There are historical trains operating in areas around the city. Nearby lakes and rivers attract flyfishers from around the world. Kayaking, whitewater rafting in mountain rivers, diving, mountain climbing and biking in Nahuel Huapi State Park are among the many possibilities for the active visitor.
